Priscilla Whitt Carrington, of Savannah, Georgia, passed away in her home surrounded by love on August 28, 2026, at the age of 83. Priscilla is survived by her children, Karen Carrington, Deb Carter (David), Krista Gillam (Brad), Ken Carrington, Jr., Troy Carrington, and Casey Carrington; her grandchildren, Rachel, Dax, Harrison, Matthew, Cari, Reid, Tripp, Beckett, and Maddie; her sisters, Brenda, Lee, and Susan; her brother, Marshall; and seven great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind many dear friends, particularly those she made during her years in Vero Beach, Florida.

Born in 1942 in Walnut Grove, South Carolina, Priscilla often described herself as a “little country girl” who grew up on a peach farm. A gifted student, she graduated valedictorian of Roebuck High School before earning her nursing degree with highest scholastic honors from Wofford College. She became a registered nurse at the Medical College of Georgia hospital in Augusta, where she met the love of her life, neurosurgeon Kenneth W. Carrington. They married and remained devoted partners until his death in 2008.

Priscilla and Ken were very different people, but they balanced one another beautifully with mutual adoration. She was practical, organized, and always prepared; he brought an adventurous spirit that she sometimes did not understand but loved enough to follow. If Ken was the gas, Priscilla was the brakes – making sure their adventures never got too far out of hand. Although Priscilla could not swim, she spent a vast amount of time with Ken and daughter Casey on a sailboat exploring the wondrous world abroad. As a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Priscilla centered her life around family, and she considered caring for the people she loved one of her greatest responsibilities and delights. She described being an extremely hands-on grandmother to Maddie as the biggest joy of her later years.

Priscilla loved reading and gardening and was the ultimate hostess. She spent more than 30 years in Vero Beach, Florida, a place she considered home, and treasured the close friendships she made there. She had an extraordinary instinct for anticipating what the people around her needed and quietly taking care of it. She maintained a meticulously organized physical planner, a fitting symbol of the woman herself: capable, conscientious, and always on top of things.

Throughout her life, Priscilla was profoundly committed to volunteer service. Over more than three decades, her service included work with the Visiting Nurse Association in Vero Beach and, later, volunteer work with the Christ Church Episcopal branch of Operation Paperback in Savannah, providing gently used paperback books to troops deployed overseas. Her commitment to this work was recognized with the Deacons’ Award from the Diocese of Georgia, honoring her as a lay person who embodies servant ministry. An active member of Christ Church Episcopal, Priscilla leaves a legacy of warm fellowship and generosity.

May Priscilla be remembered as someone who was polished yet welcoming, dignified yet unfailingly gracious, and deeply devoted to her family, friends, and community. And always, without fail, prepared, organized, and on time. She will be profoundly missed.
